Introducing Solbari's Expert Panel

At Solbari, protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is at the heart of everything we do. Experts agree that UPF 50+ is the gold standard in sun protection, serving as the first line of defence against the damaging effects of UV exposure.

We’re committed to reducing the incidence of skin cancer through prevention and education. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our Expert Medical Panel, a collaboration with leading Australian dermatologists.

Meet our panel

A/Prof Michelle Rodrigues

A/Prof Michelle Rodrigues is a dermatologist specialising in pigmentary disorders, skin of colour, and laser surgery, with training at world-renowned centres globally.

I always emphasise the importance of comprehensive sun protection to my patients – not just for skin cancer prevention, but also to combat premature ageing and hyperpigmentation. Dermatologists know that sunscreen isn’t enough to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

This is where Solbari’s UPF 50+ range plays a critical role, providing an additional barrier with at least 98% protection against UVA and UVB rays. I particularly value how Solbari garments combine style with practical design features – such as high necklines and lightweight breathable fabrics – while meeting industry standards and offering exceptional durability.

Dr Ryan De Cruz

Dr Ryan De Cruz is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, Founder of Southern Dermatology, and a Consultant at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Skin Health Institute.

"When it comes to protecting our skin against UV radiation, I am a firm believer that SPF 50+ sunscreen is not enough. I always recommend UPF 50+ clothing and accessories including a wide-brim hat, long sleeves or other hand/arm coverage, and trousers/swimwear that protect our legs as well.

Solbari is a hero sun-protective clothing brand that delivers a range of quality UPF 50+ options that look great and provide outstanding protection. I am proud to recommend such a forward-thinking, Aussie-owned clothing brand that reinforces the need to protect our skin as a whole.”

Dr Priska McDonald

Dr Priska McDonald is a consultant dermatologist with expertise in skin cancer, including melanoma, holding appointments at The Alfred Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

"When it comes to skin cancers, prevention is key. One of my main roles as a dermatologist is educating patients about the importance of sun protection. Although sunscreen is paramount, combining it with sun protective clothing with a rating of UPF 50+ offers the best protection.

Solbari has curated a product range that provides effective, practical and stylish clothing to protect all Australians in the sun, no matter what they are doing. As a new mum, I especially love their fingerless gloves and wide brim hats for the long pram walks.”
