About Solbari Australia

SOLBARI IS AN AUSTRALIAN SUN PROTECTION FOCUSED BRAND.

We are based in Melbourne, Australia. All of our intelligent products have been tested and awarded the highest achievable sun protective rating for fabrics, UPF50+ by the Australian Government. Our research & development team has spent years sourcing and testing the most lightweight, breathable and comfortable fabrics that also achieve the Australian Government UPF50+ rating. An Australian UPF50+ rating blocks more than 98% of UVA and UVB rays.

We are proud to have delivered Australian UPF50+ protection to our customers in over 70 countries to date.

Live outdoors with confidence, style, and comfort.

ALL OUR PRODUCTS HAVE THE MAXIMUM AUSTRALIAN UPF50+ RATING. NO EXCEPTIONS.

All fabrics have some ability to block UV radiation but laboratory testing is needed to tell how useful different fabrics are for sun protection by measuring the Ultra-violet Protection Factor or “UPF” rating for the fabric. Multiple factors that contribute to the UPF rating of a fabric include: composition of the yarn, tightness of the weave or knit, colour, stretch, moisture, condition, and finishing.

The Australian Government, with no exceptions, independently completes all of the Solbari fabric testing. We submit for testing every colour, in every fabric and we do this every time we produce a new yarn.

We only manufacture Solbari garments once our fabric has been certified with the maximum Australian rating of UPF50+.

Why We Created Solbari

IN AUSTRALIA, WE KNOW SKIN CANCER.
SKIN CANCER IS PREVENTABLE

Australia has the highest incidence rate of skin cancer in the world.

Skin cancer accounts for 80% of all new cancers detected each year in Australia.

Our initial goal was to produce the highest quality Australian UPF50+ sun protective clothing given the need here in Australia. Our mission has grown as we now export Australian UPF50+ sun protection to the rest of the World too.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UPF AND SPF

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is the rating you’re familiar with for sunscreens. UPF measures the amount of UV radiation that penetrates a fabric and reaches the skin.

An Australian UPF50+ rating is the highest rating achievable and blocks more than 98% of UVA and UVB rays.

Achieving the Australian UPF50+ certification is only the first part of the challenge. In addition to achieving the highest UPF rating, we have also sought fabrics that consider specific skin conditions as well as intended activities and sports.
