Eczema, also known as dermatitis, is a condition which results in inflammation and irritation of the skin.

Eczema represents itself as reddish, inflamed, dry and itchy skin. Eczema may last for a short period or be ongoing and may adversely impact an isolated part of the skin or occur much more widespread area of the body. Typical areas affected include hands, knees, elbows, scalp, chest and buttocks.

The cause of eczema is unknown and is not curable, but the condition can be managed.
